ahhh...all decorations are down...only 1 tree remains standing...it will be put away tonight after the 4:00 football game.
today has been a bittersweet day on so many levels. It is the official last day of christmas vacation. Tomorrow, it's back to the real world. Working full days, regularly schedule programming which doesn't include a daily nap with my Brady.
The little boys and I stayed home in our jammies today to take down the decorations. We will return to church next week, well rested, hopefully completely well and sunday school lessons read. Eddie went to sunday school wearing his suit. He had to go to calling hours today for one of his students. Victoria was only 16. Killed in an instant, a car accident a couple days after christmas. She leaves behind parents and a younger brother and so many friends. A young life taken way too soon.
Eddie has had a heavy heart since hearing this news. I don't know how to help him. But to listen and pray for her family. So today I choose my word for 2010 - SAVOR.
I made a roast chicken today, as I was cutting up the veggies and stuffing the bird with lemon and garlic it just made me happy to make something yummy for my family. Eddie came home just in time to carve the bird. We sat down to a dinner as a family. And the browns game was on - yes our browns won again today. Like they have won 4 games in a row! I don't think this has happened since 1986. Go Manngenius. I told the boys to finish up and they could go watch football with daddy. As all the boys rushed downstairs, I remained seated. Still finishing my meal and just listening to my boys. Eddie came back up stairs - surprised that I was still sitting at the table by myself. What are you doing miller? Savoring your meal?
So as I was cleaning up the kitchen, it just made sense that SAVOR would be my word for 2010. Yes I did savor my meal - it was pretty good if I do say so myself. Roast chicken & veggies, noodles, green beans. Mint chocolate chip ice cream for dessert with thin mints (yes we just opened our last box of girl scout cookies from the freezer). But I savor the time with my family at home. Savor the soft baby skin. Savor the smell of freshly bathed boys. Savor my life. I want to appreciate each moment, even if I am running out of patience and energy. I just want to savor the deliciousness of life.
