***DISCLAIMER: rambling, erratic post to following, you may want to check back another day****
So after dinner last night - Eddie went to get ice cream ! (yeah)
He took Riley - but also offered to go retrieve my two (now past due bills) from the truck that is still at the garage. He took my keys to get into the truck that had grammie & papa's van key on it- because I couldn't use a lot car at work, and couldn't get a rental (we have rental coverage for $20 a day if the HONDA breaks) and wasn't going to pay $46.00 a day for a compact rental.
So while Eddie and Riley are out - I get to spend a few minutes alone with Brady. I must remember he is still a baby - but does he have a personality! Last night during dinner when he wasn't gagging himself on purpose by putting his whole hand in his mouth, he was sticking his fingers up his nose (yes he still points with the middle finger) and laughing when I told him no, or took his finger out of his nose. It's hard not to laugh - so I have to look away. So Riley & I started singing the apple tree song (thanks to grammie and story hour!) because he knows the hand motions. He eventually ate all his dinner.
So while the big boys are out - Brady quickly starts playing with all the Lego's (that he is normally not allowed to touch) then he sees it, Riley's computer (Vtec little yellow "computer") sitting on the kids table. He runs to get it, brings it back to me so I can open it up, carries it back to the table over his head, trys to get on the chair, fusses until I get him seated. He starts pushing all the buttons, and clicking the mouse and laughs and kicks his legs. He really appears to know what he is doing. I say "oh Brady, I love you!" To this - he puckers up and leans in for a kiss. Melts my heart. Just then the garage door opens. Brady knows his computer time is over,he starts crying and runs for the kitchen. It's like he knows Riley will be mad that he was playing with his toys.
The big boys are back ice cream in hand, but no bills. The truck is locked inside the garage. And the garage is closed. Will try again tomorrow. Eat ice cream. Brady goes to bed.
Time to do some work! Both laptops come out and eddie and I work on our computers at the kitchen table while riley does his preschool worksheet - this week the letter L. Eddie starts paying his bills, I pay some more bills on line, surf blogs, order some pictures. Riley goes to bed. Eddie and I continue to sit at the kitchen table and work on our laptops, talking about fantasy football picks & trades, blogs, bills, interest rates and the price of stamps. About 9:30 we stop and watch our DVR episode of Heroes. I fall asleep before it's over.
So we go about our normal routine this morning, all is running smoothly. I tell the boys it's time to get dressed. And Brady runs into the bedroom and sits on the floor. He is really starting to understand! He helps get dressed and lifts his feet up when I put on his sock and shoes. Then it's time to load up in the van. Everything comes to a crashing halt. I CAN'T FIND MY KEYS! Tear the house apart looking for the keys. Truck key, Honda key, house keys, misc keys, grammie & papas van key, all my shopping cards, truck remote all one one jump ring. And no where to be found. While I am rushing around, Riley stands in the kitchen - and says " mama, this is ridiculous!". It makes me stop - why yes riley it is!! So another call goes out to grammie & papa. While we are waiting, for Papa to come to the rescue again, I just start crying. When you are already on that emotional cliff on a "good day" stuff like this pushes you over quickly. So I try to dry my tears, I am holding Brady - he is just looking at me and starts rubbing my back ( I kid you not). And Riley - says: "mama don't be sad. Do you need a hug?" Why yes buddy I do. I just have to remember that these are silly problems in the course of life and to be thankful for my sweet, thoughtful, funny boys.
So where are my keys? I am hoping they are sitting next to eddie in the Honda. Waiting for him to call me...and still no call from the garage on the status of the truck.
sigh- hoping it will all be better soon! Maybe you got all the junk out at once and now only good stuff happens!
